March 2007

I added no less than nine new projects (having neglected the site for many months.)

February 2007

Just completed 20 of the 28-day feature "Shroud."  As gaffer on this micro-budget project with a minimal crew, I have been trusted by DoP Richard Massey to make most of the creative and technical lighting choices.  We collaborate closely with editor/AD, Brad Stephens, and producer/director, David Jetre, to assure our choices best serve the story and mood of the film.

Jan 2006

I posted my Commercial DP reel.

Dec 2005

I finally placed my Narrative DP reel on-line.

Nov 2005

Just finished 28 days on the set of "Clean Sweep" as camera operator and camera grip.  "Clean Sweep" is an action/thriller directed by Austin local, Leon Rodriguez and shot entirely in New Braunfels on the Panasonic Varicam.  The film features long-time character actor Pepe Serna, up-and coming Latin martial arts star Fabian Carrillo, comedic wonder John Farley, Daniel Baldwin, Reni Santoni, Theresa San-Nicholas, Rebecca Grant, Latin pop star Jose' Jose' and more.

Check out my production diary about life on the set.

A day before Cinco de Mayo (de Cinco) and a few tidbits to note:

I shot my first commercial spot as director of photography -- actually three spots in a weekend for IKnowWare, a productivity solution software company.  I'll have frames from the cameras coming soon, but for now, here's some stills from the set.

My article "Power Management on the Micro-budget set", was adapted to an article for DV Magazine.  It appears in the May 2005 issue.

A long overdue update and a busy first quarter:

Stairway to Heaven wrapped principal photography after four half-days and two full days of shooting.  I couldn't be happier with my cast, crew, and the finished footage!

I served as director of photography and technical consultant for Map Thieves, a first-time filmmaking effort by University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's drama department.

I stepped in front of the camera for a couple of projects including the short film, I Feel Your Pain, as an insensitive Master of the World who's pregnant wife decides to teach him a lesson, and my first industrial VOC role as a news anchor for an event video produced by Picturebox Productions.

I have received the last shipment of gear for my $25,000 production gear expansion.  Take a look at the newest toys...er tools at Austin Film Tools.

DV Magazine bumped my Power Management on the Micro-budget Set article, adapted for the magazine, to their May issue.  Look for it there.

I D.P.'ed a very ambitious 16mm color U.T. student short titled Coup d'Etat - a 5-page Tarantino inspired shoot-em-up set in a convenience store.  The film has been transferred to uncompressed HD Quicktime files and then to SD video for editing.  Frames coming soon.
